5-Day Teen Wilderness Rite of Passage

Sierra Nevada | July 12–18

This five-day wilderness rite of passage is a guided experience for teens standing at the threshold between childhood and young adulthood. Set deep in the Sierra Nevada, the program blends backpacking, mentorship, and intentional ceremony to help young people build confidence, responsibility, and a felt sense of belonging to the natural world.

What teens will do

  1. Clear daily rhythms that balance movement, learning, rest, and reflection

  2. Time away from phones and modern distractions

  3. An environment that encourages confidence, self-trust, and respect for others

  4. A meaningful closing circle to integrate what was learned and name what comes next

5-Day Teen Wilderness Rite of Passage

Sierra Nevada | July 12–18

Our Youth Rites of Passage program guides youth 13-18 from the Bay Area and Los Angeles through intentional, nature-based experiences that mark the transition from childhood toward adulthood.
Through wilderness immersion, mentorship, skill-building, reflection, and ceremony, participants learn responsibility, self-trust, emotional resilience, and a sense of belonging to something larger than themselves. These rites provide what many modern adolescents are missing: meaningful challenge, clear thresholds, and supportive elders who help them step forward with purpose.
